Avoid common self-publishing pitfalls

I provide consultation services to authors who for whatever reason have decided to self-publish their books. This includes advising on the publishing process and project-managing a suitable team of trusted professionals to create a quality book that meets the requirements of your target readership and your budget. Preparation of quotes is included in the consultation process.

I am happy to consult with authors about self-publishing if the following prerequisites are met:

• The manuscript has already been professionally assessed and significant revision has taken place following the assessor’s recommendations.

• The writing quality is evident in the first few chapters.

• The author has identified their target readership and is reasonably well read in their genre.

• The author is willing to engage professional services in the areas of editing, design, typesetting and proofreading.

My consultation also includes recommendations/quotes for printing.

Marketing, sales and distribution are the author’s own responsibility.

I charge for consultation by the hour or on a project management basis. I do not offer free advice by phone or email.
